Nathan performs administrative duties in the office at Long Island Lumber, a local sawmill that manufactures matting for heavy machinery. He tries to keep up with an assortment of small hobbies, and delights in learning new things. But the outdoors always comes back to claim his heart in the end. Nathan is single and (as Glen kindly puts it) leaves his parents and a dog at home when he travels.
As a child, Nathan tinkered with self-recording. His first “work” he titled “Noah’s Ark” –a ridiculous, self-created, symphony of animal noises. Fortunately, his tastes quickly became more refined as he learned to love music and singing.
Both Jon & Glen are first cousins of Nathan. Jon was also Nathan’s high school teacher. Despite Jon’s frequent “life’s not fair” statements directed toward Nathan in his high school years (and Nathan’s equally frequent complaints about this fact), Jon and Nathan formed a lasting friendship.
Nathan writes: “I dream a lot –and God has made a number of my less-than-perfect dreams come true! Voice of Praise was a dream as young teenager. After declining to audition in 2008, I truly believed that the chance to sing with VOP would never come again –and yet, here I am. Now that God has led me here, I find this is more than a dream come true –it’s a place God has called me to serve Him for this stage of my ‘journey’, and I want to be a good steward of this time. As I sing with a ‘voice’ of praise, may God always be my ‘source’ of praise and my heart the ‘place’ of praise.”
